Detailed Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
The Account Representative provides a variety of Client/Customer services and/or clerical support to assist Broker(s) within the Property/Casualty, Surety, Small Commercial Lines or Personal Lines Department. Responsible for servicing accounts that generate the current year?s commission requirements as set forth by current fiscal year budget and Corporate goals. (Commission range is influenced by the expected service demands of the type of business handled and years of agency experience.)

Coordinate the Marketing process
? Discusses proposals for policy renewals
? Gathers information for applications.
? Packages and markets applications to various carriers obtaining quotations or negotiates prices, commissions, coverage, etc., with carrier.
? Prepares presentations/proposals for clients
? Binds insurance coverage and prepares insurance binders or certificates.

? Reviews pollicies and determines property coverage and possible deficiencies under rating/underwriting rules.

? May meet with clients, as directed, to review coverage.

? Reviews client accounting history, responds to accounting inquiries, corrects account discrepancies.

? Research requests from the company underwriter.

Clerical
? Compose correspondence to insured/underwriters.
? Type applications, letters, memos, etc.
? Answer telephone and route calls to others.
? Process and distribute mail.

? Inputs invoice information

? May provide technical assistance to other Account Representatives

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Education:
? High School diploma or equivalent
Experience:
? Minimum of 6 years experience receiving client inquiries and processing forms and endorsements for commercial lines of insurance (including primary commercial coverage lines), with demonstrated ability to interpret commercial policies and explain coverage to clients.
? Detailed working knowledge of all commercial coverage lines.
? Familiar with rating and underwriting rules.
? Ability to independently review policy and determine proper coverage or identify possible deficiencies.
? Experience in Lead capacity preferred.
? Full understanding of agency/company relationship and procedures.
? Familiarity with the Company or a related type of computer system.
? Must possess a valid insurance license.
? Must continue to meet C.E.U. requirements for license renewal.
? Must have completed Insurance 21, 22, 23 or equivalent courses (including the Certificate In General Insurance and/or the CISR designation) and additional continuing education requirements towards three of the five CIC courses or two of the three AAI courses, or higher.
? Ability to file, touch type (30-35 wpm), use a computer keyboard and operate general office equipment. Some general office experience preferred. Excellent oral communication skills. Speak and understand English.
? Candidate must pass agency proctored written insurance exam, Microsoft Word and Excel exams with scores of 70% or higher.
? Work is performed independently with occasional supervision on the most complex issues.
? Exercises wide amount of latitude and independent discretion.
