Customer Service Representative / Insurance Agent Trainee

Customer Service Representative

 

 Job Summary: Customer Service Representative is responsible for the sale of new property and casualty insurance business and supports office manager and agency principal.  Provides quotes, determines eligibility, and binds coverage after collecting all related underwriting data and information.  Handles inbound and outbound calls and follow-up work as required to close sales or assisting agency staff.  Specializes in personal insurance (auto, home and life).

 

Relationship:    Reports to Agency Principal

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

1.  Handles incoming calls from prospective customers according to best practices. Performs outbound calls and follow-up work to close the sale.

2.  Writes quality risk policies based on underwriting requirements; makes decisions by interpreting and using appropriate classification systems, rating plans, tiers, and selection standards: utilizes training and sales techniques to close the sale. 

3.  Answers questions, provides explanations, and makes recommendations to applicants regarding appropriate coverage for auto, property, and life.  (i.e. policies,  limits,  deductibles). 

4.  Completes necessary applications and forms; issues binders within authority.  Follows up for necessary documents and payments in order to close the sale. 

5.  Assists and contributes to agency?s goals.

6.  Maintains current understanding and proficiency in sales techniques and product offerings, keeps up to date with market conditions and competitors and systems enhancements.  Cross-trains on other products and lines of business. 

7.  Assist with solicitations of additional business from existing customers.

8.  Receives payments from customers and enters payments promptly to appropriate company.

9.  Handles support for agency such as obtaining mail, answers incoming calls, filing, performs agency correspondence, and organizes agency supplies.

10.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

 

Education/Knowledge: High school graduate.  Insurance license, as required by the Commonwealth of PA, is preferred but not  as required -  we provide a compensation package with education benefits to the qualified candidate.  Continuing education as required by the Commonwealth of PA. 

 

Skills:  Possesses strong verbal and interpersonal skills to communicate technical insurance information to prospective customers.  Ability to operate personal computer hardware/software in a WINDOWS environment.
