Director of Risk and Safety

Avado Brands, Inc. is owner and operator of Don Pablo?s & Hops restaurants.  Avado is located in Madison, GA approximately 30 miles south of Athens.  Avado operates 118 full-service locations with restaurants in 21 states.

 

The Director of Risk and Safety position will be responsible for managing the total cost of risk to budget.  This is a very results oriented and hands-on position where the Director of Risk and Safety, along with a Risk Analyst, will interact with all levels of the organization and many external partners to meet objectives. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

? Bachelor?s degree in Risk Management, or related field.

? 5-10 years of experience in insurance/risk management/claims management areas for an insurer, broker or in a corporate risk management department, preferably in multi-unit restaurant or retail firm.

? Strong knowledge of Property and Casualty risk management concepts.

? Ability to assess individual claims situations, particularly workers compensation and general liability, and determine most appropriate course of action. 

? Exceptional leadership, analytical, organizational, presentation, and communication skills.

? Creative problem solving abilities, excellent judgment, and willingness to take initiative with minimal supervision.

? Strong email and Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.  Ability to learn and use risk management information systems quickly.

? Ability to travel 10% to 30% of time.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

? Work closely with operations management and adjusters to facilitate timely and cost effective claims outcomes, including approving settlement requests.  Act as liaison between the company, adjusters, consultants, and the defense attorneys in defense of actions against the organization.

? Evaluate and manage external partners and resources including insurance companies and brokers, attorneys, consultants, and third party administrators.

? Lead and manage the Crisis Management Program, and Risk Control efforts, including the Safety Committee.

? Prepare insurance renewal documentation for submission to broker and insurance markets.  Analyze renewal quotes and determine appropriate program.

? Assures compliance with regulatory agencies, including state insurance departments and OSHA.

? Manage the surety bond program. 

? Prepares materials for and presents in meetings and/or training sessions as requested.

? Adheres to the Company?s Touchstones in every decision-making activity.

? Performs other similar or related duties as assigned by supervisor.
