Director of Underwriting Support
Job Summary:
Manage underwriting support staff to ensure efficiency and standardization of processes in each office. Communicate and facilitate updates from GUSS to underwriting support staff. Support underwriting staff including processing underwriting materials into database, verify data entry for accuracy, production of statistical reports and provide follow-up for underwriters. Has the ability to interpret underwriting information and liaise with underwriters or clients with any queries Works independently with minimum supervision.
Essential Functions:
Manage team of underwriting support including:
Participating in hiring of underwriting support staff
Assist in staff evaluations
Train all underwriting support including:
Train new staff
Update existing staff on GUSS modifications
Standardization of work flow systems, applications and operability
Design, develop and implement a uniform system of file (electronic and paper) maintenance.
Manage the creating and maintenance of the GUSS training and support reference materials.
Manage the training and maintenance of best practices to achieve improvement of consistency and quality of input into GUSS in all branches.
Analyzes and anticipates system or other developments to bring about ease of work flow, minimizing underwriter actions to present and bind quotes.
Coordinates with management on underwriting support staffing, systems and equipment needs.
Design and develop with London IT the Work Flow Process
Have a working knowledge of the Underwriting Support process including:
- Premium payments
- Claim payments
- Submissions, clearing, quotes and memo verification
- Document Management System (DMS)
Minimum Qualifications
College Degree preferred or equivalent experience Five or more years of related experience and/or training Experience managing personnel Excellent attention to detail Work well in a team environment Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and GUSS Understanding of company structure and business practices
Skills & Abilities
Excellent communication skills ? verbal and written
Ability to delegate authority/tasks as required
Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
