Experienced P & C Claims Adjuster

We are a small Baltimore, MD based automobile insurance company looking for an experienced auto liability/PD claims adjuster.  Bilingual (Spanish) a plus but not required.


 

Job Purpose:
Resolve claims by investigating losses; negotiating out-of-court settlements; presenting evidence in legal proceedings.

Duties:

* Determine insurance coverage by examining claim forms, policies, and other records; identify and process subrogation claims; interviewing claimant and witnesses; consulting police and hospital records; assign appraisers to estimate property damage.

 

*Open new claims, set up and process claim file

* Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.

* Resolve questionable claims by investigating claim; comparing claim information with evidence.

* Settle claims by determining insurance carrier's liability; reaching agreement with claimant according to policy provisions.

* Recommend litigation by analyzing negotiated settlement options; evaluating evidence.

 

* Experience in adjusting "total losses", pursuing subrogation, identifying possible fraud is "a plus". 

 

The successful candidate should be:

* Customer service oriented with effective communication skills

* Able to work with others in a "small office" setting

* Familiar with Microsoft Office Skills

* Prompt, dependable
