We are looking for an experienced Underwriter to join our Farm and Ranch team in Spokane, Washington. Our team is responsible for underwriting business in 25 states and we welcome multi-state experience, although not required.  If you are interested in working for an industry leader and taking your career to the next level, then read on. In this position we are looking for someone to:


Responsibilities:

Underwrite Farm & Ranch risks, including selection/rejection/pricing of new & renewal accounts.
Manage production and profitability of an assigned territory, including monitoring of competition & recommending product/pricing changes.
Coordinate with the Farm and Ranch support staff, Loss Control, and Claims, to ensure established service levels are achieved Develop and maintain underwriting relationships with assigned producers as well as work with a Sales Development Manager to develop and execute marketing/business plans.


Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of farming and ranching practices and of Farm & Ranch insurance products, coverages & underwriting principles, however we are willing to consider strong multi-line or personal lines experience as well.
Experience writing agribusiness accounts is a plus.
Strong communications, presentation, sales and negotiating skills will be critical to perform well in this position.
Excellent analytical, interpretive and evaluative skills to make timely decisions.
Ability to analyze financial, market and economic data to identify trends and determine underlying causes and/or potential impacts.
Ability to work in a team environment to drive profitability.
Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution and collaboration skills.
15% travel required.
