HR Practice Leader

We are seeking candidates with eight years of HR generalist experience who possess a strong competency in business acumen, organizational agility, dealing in ambiguity, assisting in the development of employees, employee relations, knowledge of California employment law and process/project management. Experience in the financial services or insurance industry is preferred. Proven interpersonal, leadership, communication, conflict resolution, change management, influencing and team player skills are essential. The candidate must be results and solutions oriented.

The selected candidate will provide HR support for approximately 200 employees in our Southern California region which includes offices in Los Angeles, Newport Beach and San Diego. The majority of employees reside in Los Angeles. The HR team consists of two HR Managers, one Zone HR Manager and one staff assistant for a total employee population of 420. The HR Manager, reports to the Western Zone HR Manager and is responsible for achieving the established HR goals and service standards in coordination with the HR team. The offices are comprised of a diverse group of business units such as: Chubb Commercial Insurance, Chubb Specialty Insurance, Chubb Personal Insurance, along with Claims, Marketing, Operations and Loss Control. The Los Angeles operation, with Newport Beach and San Diego reporting through it, is responsible for approximately $30 million in annual revenue to the corporation. In this generalist role, the right candidate will consult closely with the Branch Manager, Branch Practice Leaders and Zone Managers in order to lead recruiting efforts, rewards and recognition programs, talent management, performance management, employee relations, training and development, compensation and expense policies and processes. The HR Manager is engaged as a key stakeholder in developing and implementing the branch business strategy. The candidate must be a strong team player with the ability to lead within a dynamic team that achieves aggressive results. Chubb is an organization that embraces change, therefore, experience in change management is desired. The position is supported, in part, by a staff assistant and a Shared Services unit that manages most questions regarding benefits. The person will primarily service the Los Angeles branch location with some travel to Newport Beach and San Diego. Travel to Chubb's Corporate office in Warren, NJ is required for training and annual meeting purposes.
