Industrial Hygienist

Description: Under moderate supervision, provides a full range of customer industrial hygiene consulting services. Conducts extensive data collection, evaluation and analysis in order to identify occupational disease exposures and make recommendations that motivate customers to control their sources of risk and/or loss.

Conducts a wide range of industrial hygiene surveys at customer sites across a broad base of differing industries for various chemical contaminants, physical hazards (such as noise, vibration, ionizing radiation, non-ionizing radiation, heat stress, etc.) and biological hazards (such as mold, bacteria, etc.).

On-site visits assess existing processes, controls and work practices. Sampling strategy determines hypothesis for test results. Representative sampling is done to measure exposure for comparison to existing standards. Selective sampling identifies sources or short term exposures.

Provide guidance and insight relating to implementation of recommendations. Maintains a high level of expertise by staying abreast of new information, technologies, laws, policies and government regulations.

Assesses and benchmarks customer control plan (engineering, work practice, administrative and program) against internal and industry standards.

Utilizes advanced environmental equipment and software applications to help identify causes of exposure and find innovative and cost-effective solutions for customers.

Prepares technical reports which evaluates data and outlines agreed upon controls needed.

Initiates follow-up surveys to facilitate customer actions that result in exposure control.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering degree or related field. 2-3 years consulting experience required. Or Masters in Science and 1 -3 years of directly related consulting experience required. Strong communication and listening skills in order to develop and maintain relationships with customers. Strong marketing and sales skills to acquire new business. Proven ability to deal with all levels of an organization. Ability to conduct extensive research, evaluation and analysis.

Territory covers several States and significant overnight travel is required. Overnight work can be up to 50%. Company car provided. Survey volumes range between 80- 110 surveys per year.

Must be highly proficient in math, chemistry, biology as well as spreadsheet and word processing software. Knowledge of air sampling instrumentation required.

This job is a range posting. Job grade 12 is an Industrial Hygiene Technician and job grade 13 is an Industrial Hygienist.
