Description Within our talented and dynamic Insurance & Actuarial Advisory Services group, the Manager will be responsible for managing multiple actuarial engagements and other related activities. These duties include managing the technical, business, and personnel aspects of actuarial consulting engagements as well as assisting in leading in business development efforts with clients. Responsibilities
Provide assistance to clients for all lines of business including pricing, reserving, financial forecasting, product development, profit and loss analysis, analysis of risk arrangements, developing rates, rating plans, pricing strategies, estimates for required reserve levels, and valuations. Understand/communicate complex actuarial issues. Stay informed of and apply professional standards and firm policies (e.g., Actuarial Standards of Practice).

Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client management. Focus on deliverables and prioritize. Manage expectations of service. Successfully manage to the budget. Stay informed of general business/economic developments and their impact to the client.

Develop people. Effectively delegate work. Contribute to on-the-job feedback/training and conduct performance reviews. Coach junior staff in the pursuit of actuarial examinations/credentials. Foster teamwork and innovative thinking.

Commit to developing knowledge. Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery. Respect/protect client information. Maintain an educational program to continually develop skills.

Assist in generating new business opportunities. Understand E&Y's service lines and actively assess/present opportunities for the firm to bring value to clients. Develop long-term relationships and networks.

Qualifications

To qualify for this highly visible position and an excellent opportunity for career advancement, candidates must have:

* an undergraduate or graduate degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, and/or other related major
* approximately 5 years of experience in an actuarial-oriented position
* Associateship in the Casualty Actuarial Society or Society of Actuaries and working towards Fellowship, or particular business/industry experience to meet special needs
* PC proficiency with knowledge of spreadsheet and actuarial-related software
* strong writing, presentation, conceptual, analytical, and interpersonal skills

The successful candidate must also be willing and able to travel, when necessary.
