In this position you will detect and resolve fraudulent claims, applications for coverage, and provider reimbursement in all product lines of the company. Conduct investigations and prepare file documentation for reporting and prosecution. Participate in the preparation and assist in providing training to all levels of the company and others as may be required.

Primary responsibilities for this position include:

- Screen and review claims and other transactions reported to the Special Investigations Unit as potentially fraudulent for all lines of insurance, including life, disability, and dental.. Identify potential material misrepresentations and omissions in insurance transactions including claims for benefit payments and applications for insurance coverage. Create and implement investigative plans to resolve identified fraud issues.
- Coordinate investigations with personnel in other departments. Conduct and or manage desktop investigations (Internet, subscription databases, telephonic). Research public records and other sources to develop information to address fraud issues. Verify representations made by claimants and applicants.
- Prepare cases and refer to outside investigators/vendors for external investigation. Communicate with outside investigators and manage their activity to secure necessary information. Conduct field claim interviews documenting claimant representations (e.g.extent of disability, accuracy of financial documentation, and activities of daily living)
- Complete investigations and prepare reports of suspected fraudulent activity necessary for prosecution. Respond to fraud case information inquiries from law enforcement entities and departments of insurance. Assist law enforcement in their understanding of how possible criminal acts may have taken place.
- Participate in preparation and training for company personnel to detect potential fraudulent situations as part of their regular work process.

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following:

- Associate's or bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field, or five years of insurance claims investigation experience or professional investigation experience with law enforcement agencies, or seven years of professional investigation experience involving economic or insurance related matters, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
- Professional certification: Current certification or working toward certification as a Certified Fraud Examiner preferred.
- Multi-tasking and simultaneous management of diverse cases;
- Manage case investigation with outside vendors and law enforcement agencies;
- Apply investigative tools and resources
- Strong PC and Internet skills
- Working knowledge of State fraud statutes and regulations, Fair Claim Settlement Practices Act, ERISA, privacy guidelines, basic knowledge of criminal law, prosecution of insurance claims fraud cases, and rules of evidence and documentation
- Advanced knowledge of public records research, surveillance, and field investigation techniques; insurance operations including claims, underwriting, sales and service, applying basic criminal law to assist in the prosecution process.
