Market Intelligence Analyst

Position Objective: Provide competitive intelligence services to the Guardian?s in house customers (e.g., product development, product support, corporate planning, wholesaling, etc.) and the field associates.

Principal Accountabilities:
?Work with Product Support to aid the field in competitive situations
?Use a variety of sources to proactively gather competitive intelligence on peer competitors and market leaders. Maintain regularly updated files on key competitors. Maintain Guardian?s competitive database, posting to systems such as Guardian On Line.
?Provide competitive information as required to support product development and other internal customers within Guardian (e.g., corporate planning)
?Respond to information requests from approved outside parties (e.g., LIMRA) requesting information on Guardian?s products
?Contribute to internal newsletter dedicated to product/competition topics
?Regularly provide briefs on industry performance and activities of key competitors.

Requirements
Competencies/Skills:
?Appropriate sense of urgency and commitment to quality service
?Strong environmental scanner open to multiple sources of competitive information (eg: relationships, brokerage websites, product kits, National Underwriter)
?Strong communication skills ? written, graphic and oral presentation skills
?Solid analytical skills, including present value, internal rate of return
?Ability to use illustration systems and product features to compete in competitive situations
?Have interpersonal skills to maintain contacts at Guardian?s key competitors and Field associates

Requirements:

Knowledge:
?Understanding of the sources of competitive information
?Knowledge of the individual life market and its key players
?Understanding of life products and approaches for winning in competitive situation

Education: Bachelor?s degree with industry related education (e.g., CLU, CFP) or commitment to obtain designation

Experience: 5+ years of individual life business with competitive intelligence and sales support or experience as licensed life insurance agent.

Other: Occasional travel to industry or Guardian functions.
