Job Summary:

The New Programs Underwriter, under technical direction, underwrites and analyzes new multi-line and/or monoline Program business. They will administers and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules. They work writing significant limits and authority on assignments of higher technical complexity and coordination and provide direction and guidance to our program administrators. The New Programs Underwriter will develops/maintains Program Administrator, agency and/or broker relationships.



Job Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree or equivalent

4 or more years of related multi-line underwriting experience. Strong focus on Auto and/or Work Comp lines a plus. Experience working with Program Administrators preferred.
Must be willing to travel up to 40%.

1. Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility.
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. In-depth knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
4. Solid knowledge of processing methods and workflow procedures, and basic knowledge of insurance underwriting and regulations for assigned territories.
5. Strong negotiation skills.
6. Ability to effectively assess risk.
7. Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing, regulations and guidelines.
8. Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.9. Ability to multi-task.
10. Must be able to function effectively in team environment.
11. PC literate.
