Outside Property Adjuster

Position Responsibilities

? Analyzing first reports to determine nature of loss and scope of damage.
? Promptly contacting insured; inspecting, estimating and documenting damage, determining if coverage applies, meeting with insured or their representative and providing them with an estimate of their loss ASAP.
? Promptly and properly documenting the file to provide accurate and timely investigation and loss analysis information.
? Maintaining an active diary to achieve timely development of the file and timely disposition of the claim.
? Recognizing and pursuing recovery where possible.
? Adhering to all statutory regulations and unfair claim practices acts.
? Effectively communicating with all internal and external customers.
? Traveling outside assigned territory to assist other offices with CAT events.


Knowledge, skills and abilities:
? As a general rule, candidates should possess a minimum of three years of property adjusting experience.
? Knowledge of insurance contracts, investigative techniques, legal requirements and regulations.
? Ability to work with a wide spectrum of people and develop and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external customers.
? Ability to use Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Boeckh estimating software.
? Knowledge of current construction methods and cost; ability to write own estimates and complete and / or commercial building valuation.
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong analytical and negotiation skills.
? Strong customer service skills.

Education and Experience:
? High School diploma and equivalent experience required. College degree preferred.
