Personal Lines Appraisal Trainee

Description : The Chicago office has a Personal Lines Appraiser Trainee position available. This position is a field-based position, office from the Chicago location during the training program. Our entry-level training program begins with an overview of the organization and the basic tenets of the property and casualty industry and takes you through a year long program comprised of classroom and on-the-job training, preparing the candidate for assignment in a field office.

Core responsibilities of the Appraisal role are to analyze and develop the replacement cost of high valued homes and provide detailed reports regarding risk acceptability. This includes visiting with clients in their homes to determine replacement costs, evaluate adequacy of alarm systems, and make safety recommendations. Create risk assessment reports to be used by underwriters, agents, and insured's. Based on an insured's possessions and lifestyle, identify and effectively market the need for additional Chubb coverage. Develop and make presentations to agents about the appraisal service to support local marketing efforts.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with the ability to deal with a wide variety of people. An interest in architecture or construction or fine art is desired, and an aptitude for evaluating, analyzing and interpreting information is critical. Must have ability to adapt to new ideas and situations; demonstrated ability to manage relationships with customers; resourcefulness and initiative in pursuing continuous learning to improve skills. Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills, as well as excellent mathematical skills are critical, as well as excellent time management and planning skills. The ability to work both independently and as part of the appraisal team, including remote dispatch is required. Must have the ability to develop relationships with marketing, underwriting and key agents. Valid driver's license and safe driving record is required.

Willingness to travel as occasional overnight visits are required in both training and upon movement to the approved branch or field appraisal position. The successful candidate must be mobile, and willing to relocate upon completion of the training program.
