This position is available immediately for the right candidate.


Within established parameters you'll use the knowledge and expertise you bring, company guidelines and interpretive materials along with independent judgment to make underwriting decisions. In addition to providing excellent service to our agents and customers, you'll work closely within department team and frequently communicate with Sales & Marketing, Claim and Information Services Department staffs as well as approved vendors.

Knowledge:  Demonstrates knowledge of underwriting fundamentals.  Demonstrates knowledge of rates, products and coverages.  Makes sound underwriting recommendations and decisions. Demonstrates basic understanding of independent and/ or direct?writer agency requirements and methods of operation.

 

Skills:  Builds strong agency relationships and relationships with team, company and related company personnel.  Demonstrates problem solving and analytical skills.  Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.  Intermediate Windows Operating Systems, Word and basic Excel; Excellent Telephone Technique.

 

Abilities:  Ability to consistently present a pleasant phone voice and positive enthusiastic approach to customers and problem solving; Communicate via telephone approximately 40-50% of day; Ability to exercise personal initiative, demonstrate adaptability as well as strong internal and external service motivation.  Demonstrates respect toward the differences of others and accepts personal responsibility for their assignment and their contribution to the whole. Ability to Read/Write/Speak and conduct business in English required, with bi-lingual Spanish as a plus.

 

Education and / or Experience and Previous Authorities: High School Graduate or equivalent; College level courses with emphasis on business or insurance studies helpful. Position requires at least 3 years solid personal lines property experience as an underwriter.

 

 Certificates or Licenses: As required by regulatory entities. Relevant professional designations or specific certifications highly desirable.
