ACE Workers Compensation Premium Audit Technical Manager

 

This position reports to ACE Workers Compensation Home Office Underwriting. 

 

 KEY OBJECTIVES

 

The key objective is to make a positive contribution to business unit goals by ensuring that premium audits are technically accurate and are performed in compliance with manual rules, ACE Corporate Policies and Procedures, regulatory requirements and sound Premium Audit Practices and Principles.  The position is responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of Workers? Compensation Premium Audit services to all internal and external business partners.  This position can be located in either Philadelphia or Wilmington.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure that vendors? premium audit delivery is technically accurate through oversight and on-going evaluation of vendors? work.  Accuracy is defined by ACE WC standards, bureau requirements and standard premium audit practices and principles.  Develop and maintain a close working relationship with premium audit vendors? management to ensure that quality standards are being met. Develop necessary monitors and controls to evaluate vendors? premium audit quality.  Interact closely with vendors to ensure that they provide quality service.  Ensure that vendors? service is cost effective such that re-audits run within an acceptable level.  Ensure that Bureau Test Audit standards in those states where applicable are met or exceeded.  Determine actions required of ACE and vendors and ensure that standards are met.  Work with Regulatory, Claims, Unit Statistical departments to ensure overall bureau standards are met. Provide premium audit technical support to the ACE Workers? Comp Premium Audit Processing Manager to ensure that Disputed Audits are resolved in a technically proficient manner. Assist in the development of Processing Procedures by ensuring that procedures support processing in a technically accurate manner. Review and monitor audits with ?Underwriter Referral? from auditor to ensure appropriate handling/response by vendor/underwriter.  Develop underwriting procedures/directives to ensure that necessary action is taken by underwriters as a result of new information reported by the premium auditor.  Review quality of preliminary audits requested by underwriters as performed by premium audit vendors.  Verify that premium auditors have provided accurate information.  Monitor performance of vendors to ensure quality of preliminary audit function.  Contribute depth to the organization by participating in personal growth opportunities and continuous learning.  Maintain active memberships in professional organization (Auditors Associates, etc.).  Request and participate in Premium Audit training programs.  Develop and provide on-going premium audit training to underwriters and premium audit processing staff to help improve their understanding of premium audit practices and principles as they relate to their job functions.

 

 QUALIFICATIONSSuccessful completion of a college level curriculum or equivalent business experience, professional designations a plus. Demonstrated Workers Compensation premium audit competence as evidenced by a minimum of three years of Workers Compensation Premium Audit field experience. Demonstrated leadership, initiative and influence management skills. Thorough and in-depth knowledge of basic manual rules and Workers Compensation classification system Knowledge and experience with one or more of the following classification systems; NCCI, California, Pennsylvania. Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate goals and procedures and to provide training/direction to staff, Insureds, brokers and vendors. Time management skills to meet or exceed deadlines, while performing or controlling several unrelated assignments simultaneously. Initiative and self-motivation to effectively manage inventories and maintain schedules. Ability to quickly build relationships with others.  Ability to provide good customer service in a way that minimizes problems and enhances relationships with ACE producers and underwriters.
