Product Analyst 2

Job Responsibilities:

Product Analyst 2 provides analysis, product development, and rate revision support for the Product Managers.  Output of work is used to determine and implement business and pricing strategies to achieve profitable growth, so attention to detail, data accuracy, and quality verification of own work is critical. With minimum guidance from supervisor, Product Managers, or other analysts, a Product Analyst 2 will:

(1) Provide statistical, premium, and loss analysis on Unitrin Specialty policy and claim data. Must collect, process, and analyze data from multiple databases, verify output accuracy, develop reports, and provide recommendations based on business and user needs. This includes routine and ad-hoc requests.

(2) Complete competitor analysis. Summarize and evaluate competitor rules, forms, and underwriting guidelines.  Decompose rates, create and analyze risks for comparative/batch rater tools. Create in-house and competitor rating engines in MS Excel and MS SQL to determine market position.

(3) Provide rate revision support. Collect and analyze company historical relativity data using MS Excel, MS SQL, and SAS. Provide business and pricing strategy recommendations developed from historical and competitive analysis. Create product programming and testing specifications. Gather necessary supporting data and documentation to create DOI filing.

(4) Identify, recommend, create, document and implement improvements in departmental tools, procedures and workflow.

(5) Participate in and collaborate on cross-department projects.

 

 

Knowledge & Skills:

? This level of knowledge is generally acquired through a Bachelor's Degree - Mathematics, Statistics, Business or Insurance preferred.

?3+ years experience with data analysis. Insurance experience preferred.

?General PC knowledge, including extensive experience with MS Excel. Experience with MS SQL and/or SAS preferred.

? Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

? Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to effectively interface with all levels of management and staff.

? Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize daily and long-term objectives.

? Ability to work effectively, both independently and with others in a team environment.
