Professional Development Specialist - Insurance

 

Job Description/Summary

 

Operating under the direction of the Education and Professional Development Coordinator, the Professional Development Specialist?s primary responsibilities are to provide orientation, quality assurance feedback and continuing education services to both the field-based personnel and the quality assurance staff. Following the AFSU curriculum and utilizing the AFSU materials, the Professional Development Specialist will provide initial, follow-up and ongoing orientation to field personnel.

 

Job Responsibilities/Essential Duties

 

?  Responsible for providing orientation to new field personnel in group and one-on-one applications.

?  Provide initial quality assurance review to new field personnel.

?  Maintain strong communications with the Recruiting staff and Field Management staff in coordinating AFSU curriculum implementation for new field personnel.

?  Providing follow-up orientation to field personnel based on audit results provided by the Quality Care staff.  

?  Regular phone contact with field personnel.

?  Regular attendance (as per Attendance Policy in AFS Employee Handbook)

?  Limited travel by auto or plane of up to 3% to attend required conferences and training sessions.

 

Education/Skills/Experience Required

   

?  High School Graduate or GED AND Bachelors? degree in related field OR three years of equivalent work experience in Personal Lines Insurance.

?  High level of proficiency in the Personal Lines insurance sector.

?  Must be able to comprehend web based workflow system technologies, email systems and Microsoft Office applications at a proficient level. 

?  Must be extremely detail-oriented, have exceptional time management skills and possess above-average analytical skills.

?  Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in order to communicate with and train AFS personnel.

?  A valid driver?s license is required for this position.

 

Physical Requirements

 

Intermittent standing and walking, with the majority of the day spent sitting at computer terminal, keyboarding and answering telephone.  Work environment will be low noise.  A small amount of lifting and carrying of office equipment and supplies is required.  Maximum weight lifted is approximately 50 pounds.  Ability to travel long distances by car or airplane is also necessary.

 

This position may be located within one of AFS' Regional Processing Centers or a remotely based (home office) location.  Start date is immediate.
