Job Description
Salary: 46,500 - $69,700.
This position will be responsible for handling the underwriting function for program business. Program business consists of a group of individual accounts (ranging $20,000-$500,000 in premium) that have something in common. The underwriter will be responsible for quoting and processing individual new business and renewal accounts within their binding authority, tracking the program performance of their assigned territory, gathering information and answering questions regarding the program from internal and external customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have the academic and theoretical knowledge equivalent to that normally acquired by the completion of a Bachelors Degree in business, accounting or finance; and 3-5 years of work experience in underwriting. Superior human relation and negotiation skills are required to communicate with internal and external customers. Applicant must be willing to successfully confront other department personnel on issues of profitability, company strategy, etc., to ensure appropriate weight is given to serve the best interest of Universal Underwriters Group and our customer.
