Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Manager
Each unit within the SIU Department handles all of the customer contact, and administration surrounding the processing of SIU investigations with respect to fraudulent activity that may have occurred as outlined in the insurance contract. The unit is responsible for taking new investigations, investigating all claims with suspected fraudulent activity, contact with the insured or claimant, written and verbal correspondence with the customer, and oversight of the SIU guidelines and procedures. The SIU Department must act within the Fair Claims Regulations and any requirements of any Department of Insurance (DOI) that may have jurisdiction over the claim.
The SIU Manager deals with the day-to-day issues of handling of suspected fraud files, customer service and SIU processes. Responsibilities include compliance with the Fair Claims Regulations, accuracy of all investigations, and adherence to policy language, internal Company SIU procedures and guidelines. Will work closely with internal customers in Marketing, Claims, Accounting and Product areas to oversee successful processing of efficient SIU investigations. The Manager also works with external customers, including agents, lenders, vendors, business partners and attorneys. The SIU Manager may be asked to resolve problem files and assist in the response of answering any DOI inquiries.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Investigates claims for suspected fraudulent activity, reviews and investigates claims efficiently within expense guidelines and service standards identified in the Department.
- Expense management, budgeting for cost center and analyzing current trends to improve processing in the department.
- Supports team leaders in providing operational guidance, coaching and training to those who report through this position.
- Provides technical expertise and recommendations on files with suspected fraudulent activity.
- Working with all internal customers in Claims to make sure proper training is provided on identifying fraud indicators within DOI statutory requirements
- Supports on departmental projects and teams, as needed such as providing sufficient information for reporting requirements required by State statues.
- Working within a paperless claims system, completes reports to internal and external customers.
A successful candidate will have:
- 4-year college degree.
- Excellent communication skills.
- PC Knowledge and competency, primarily Excel, Word, and Access.
- SIU investigations relating to insurance fraud, and some customer service background.
- Strong understanding of legal and fraud identifiers.
