Sales Manager - Rhode Island
JOB SUMMARY: Accountable for the achievement of district results and distribution planning, including assigned Property & Casualty profit and growth objectives and assigned Financial Services objectives. This includes shared responsibility with an underwriter for portfolio management within the assigned district.
RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to: Sales Officer/Sales Director
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Achieves assigned Property & Casualty and Financial Services objectives for the district.
2. Prepares a distribution plan for the district to achieve profitable growth in Property & Casualty and Financial Services.
3. Implements the district distribution plan through recruiting and hiring agency principals, establishing and maintaining Nationwide storefronts, adding producers and acquiring independent agencies.
4. Provide market support for products, auto, home, commercial basic life, including responsibility for creating district plans within the scope of sound portfolio management to achieve growth and profit goals.
5. Accountable for the district portfolio management activities, in partnership with an underwriter, such as conducting meetings, monitoring profitability and transaction quality performance and creating/monitoring agency management action plans.
6. Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and developing agency principals and producers in the district.
7. Manages the performance and results of district agents through training, product support and collaboration on design strategy of business plans.
8. Coordinates Property & Casualty and Financial Services compliance activities for the district assigned.
9. Responsible for managing district results including market opportunities, operations, financials, marketing and human capital to develop agency business plans focused on agencies? goals. Define and support implementation of steps for attaining business goals as defined by business plans.
10. Works with district agents to establish goals, prepares and implements plans, monitors results and makes needed adjustments to plans.
11. Responsible for helping district agents develop, implement and execute an individually designed business plan.
12. Provides input on district budget and production objectives
13. Assesses agency training needs, makes recommendations and provides training as identified by the Agency Review Process for the district.
14. Manages agency satisfaction by facilitating the relationship between the district?s agency principals and the company.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Undergraduate degree in management or business administration and technical coursework toward CPCU, CLU or FLMI preferred.
Licenses/Registration:
Must be licensed and/or appointed in accordance with insurance laws and regulations in the state(s) of operation for lines of insurance written by Nationwide Mutual Insurance and Nationwide Financial companies as well as NASD licenses and Variable Annuity license, including Series 26 licensure.
Experience:
Six years experience related to strategic planning, marketing, sales management or business administration within a property/casualty insurance operation.
Knowledge:
Industry knowledge to proficiently manage and assist in successful agency business plan results necessary.

JOB CONDITIONS:
Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt)
