JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Summary:
Reports to Managing Underwriting Director. Responsible for the profitability, growth and retention of Advantage business that is consistent with underwriting strategies as well as short and long-term business plans. Operates within authority levels as delegated by Managing Underwriting Director and Regional Underwriting Director. Active in setting agency goals in assigned territory. Works with Sales Executive to identify and generate new business in accordance with Select underwriting appetite. Operates as mentor to Associate Account Executive and Account Executive.
Major Responsibilities:
-Support long and short term business strategies. Support profit, growth and expense management goals.
-Achieve overall profit retention and growth objectives as assigned by Underwriting Director
-Follow Select Individual Account Underwriting Best Practices when evaluating new and renewal Advantage accounts.
Underwrite and price accounts in support of strategic business planning activities designed to increase the presence in the market of Advantage Select Accounts.
-Provides input to Managing Underwriting Director and Sales Director during the agency planning process
-Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal resources (e.g., Risk Control, Claim, Operations, etc.) to ensure delivery of all related service to Select clients.
-Respond to underwriting and sales strategies and standards by developing a marketing plan that reflects local market competitive conditions and, at the same time, meets our growth and profit goals.
-Meet with agency personnel to maintain and develop positive and productive relationships. In this capacity, assures that our contractual commitments are met and negotiates programs of insurance.
-Demonstrates the ability to build partnerships with other business groups and identifies and delivers agency solutions and product solutions at the account level.
-Maintains an understanding of all Travelers products, services and solutions and initiates discussions with other business units as appropriate.
-Maintain the highest level of customer service.
-May have responsible for quality assurance reviews of peer underwriting staff in accordance with agreed upon sample standards. In absence of a Managing Account Executive may provide coaching for underwriting staff based on results of QFP and C.U.R.E. process
Qualifications:
-Minimum 8 years Commercial Underwriting Experience.

-Clearly demonstrate specific knowledge requirements as defined by Select Accounts
-Understand Select Accounts products, financials, objectives and service requirements

Underwriting
-Strong technical underwriting skills. Demonstrates good working knowledge of property and casualty underwriting for the Advantage Segment.
-Strong analytical ability.
-Strong knowledge of all risk selection and pricing tools and techniques within Select and Commercial Accounts.
-Strong working knowledge of all Select products and contracts.
-Strong knowledge of Property Casualty business and products.
-Proven ability to take intelligent risk
Sales
-Knowledge of competitive market conditions
-Ability to identify customer needs and take appropriate action to meet those needs.
-Ability to build and maintain profitable agency relationships.
Financial
-Understands the business objectives and can act in a decisive manner to achieve financial results
-Takes action to achieve financial targets.

-Establishes strong coalitions and networks both within and outside the Division/Company
-Work effectively with all levels and can easily build relationships.

-Deliver clear and concise messages to co-workers and the agency plant via oral and written material.
-Demonstrate good presentation skills.
