National Interstate wants you to add your vision and drive to our team!  Due to growth, we are currently seeking a Senior Claims Examiner for our Richfield Corporate office. 

The experienced Senior Claims Examiner will be responsible for direct handling of high severity bodily injury claims, intricate coverage and/or liability issues, geographic areas with complex laws or high claims consciousness, etc. by handling the following:

 Direct defense counsel on lawsuit handling, approve discovery, etc.Summarize and make recommendations for disposition of claims in excess of individual settlement authority.Outline coverage issues and make recommendations for extending or denying coverage.Determine when catastrophic response, use of "experts", surveillance is necessary and coordinate handling of same.Negotiate fees with vendors such as defense counsel and independent adjusters.Deal with department of insurance personnel, upper management in other insurance companies, owners and/or general managers of existing and prospective accounts.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Some travel (5 to 15 days per year) may be required

 

Qualifications we are looking for:Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university.5+ years experience handling high severity bodily injury claims with at least 2 years public transportation or commercial liability experience.  Associate in Claims Law or similar advanced designation required.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, medical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Act as an ambassador of National Interstate.Knowledge of PC's, especially word processing and spreadsheets.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
