Senior Claims Specialist

American Claims Services, Inc. is an independent adjusting company with offices located regionally across the US Gulf Coast and in California. Among other things, we serve as Third Party Administrator for London Market insurers. We began operations in January 1997, and we are now enjoying our 9th year of business.

 

We have a position open for a senior liability claims adjuster to oversee different books of liability claims that we handle in our capacity as Third Party Administrator. These claims include energy liability, products /completed operations claims and commercial auto. The following is a list of qualifications that any applicant must present:

 

?  Minimum of ten years CGL adjusting experience.

?  Good writing skills. The position requires the adjuster to clearly articulate in writing ideas, strategies, case status, etc. The position requires a great deal of writing.

?  Detailed knowledge of coverage in a CGL policy. A key component of this job entails identifying coverage issues that might present themselves in a claim. It is incumbent upon the adjuster to identify and report on potential impediments to coverage.

?  Experience in litigation management. As most of the claims we handle are in litigation, the senior adjuster will work closely with and will supervise defense and coverage attorneys.  The adjuster must be able to assess the claim independently of the handling attorney.

?  Good working knowledge of Word and Excel. Virtually all of the work done is computer driven.

 

 In addition to handling a reasonable caseload, the senior adjuster will oversee one or two additional adjusters. The applicant should anticipate some of the following each day:

?  Reviewing new claims and applicable policies to identify any potential coverage issues and report those issues to underwriters.

?  Respond to new claims.

?  Investigate claims.

?  Oversee appointment of coverage counsel or defense counsel.

?  Monitor progress of litigation for compliance with client litigation guidelines.

?  Reporting on claims directly to clients.

?  Keeping track of a daily claims diary.

?  Collaboration with the members of the liability group and with supervisors.

Our office hours are basically 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, although this is somewhat flexible with prior manager approval.
