Senior Investment Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Ohio Casualty Insurance Company is hiring for a Senior Investment Analyst to perform credit analysis and provides timely buy/hold/sell recommendations for both fixed income and equities. Monitor market and industry conditions, relative value, and changes in financial condition of assigned areas of responsibility.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUCTIONS Assesses relative value in assigned industries that drive buy/sell/hold recommendations. Leverages street relationships to obtain timely market data that supports relative value decisions. Identifies and analyzes relevant economic, social, political, sector, and security considerations having a potential impact on assigned industries and companies within these industries. Publishes industry research reports on each assigned industry and presents findings to the Investment Committee. Monitors assigned industries and leads Investment Committee and team discussions on credit/industry specific issues. Responsible for maintaining credit surveillance platform updated in assigned sectors. Provides investment recommendations that have appropriate quality, yield, duration, and convexity characteristics. Ensures accurate portfolio valuations on a basis and ensures that the investment processes are in compliance with required internal audit standards. Identifies new investment opportunities by maintaining strategic relationships with key brokerage firms. Researches new analytical tools in the market and makes appropriate recommendations to enhance portfolio management capabilities. Provides guidance to and assists in the training of new or inexperience team members. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular attendance and punctuality required.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTSBachelor?s degree; Master's degree and/or CFA, preferred Five to seven years demonstrated credit analysis and investment expertise in equity and/or fixed income markets Basic knowledge of analytical (Bloomberg and BondEdge), word processing, spreadsheet, and internet software Ability to coach new or inexperienced team members and function as part of a cross-functional, decision-making investment team Demonstrated research, analytical, and problem-solving skills Demonstrated planning and negotiation skills Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
