Senior Medical Case Coordinator

Job Summary  The ideal candidate is an RN with excellent communication and people skills, who is proficient in multi-tasking and time management, and is prepared to make the transition from clinical nursing to using his/her medical knowledge in support of a business unit.

 

 

Position Responsibilities

Approximately 50% clinical (Employee Medical Clinic), 50% administrative (Medical Underwriting) Medical Center functions (Employee Clinic) Initial triage and evaluation of work-related injuries, and employees who become ill at work Assist employees in arranging for follow up care by their own physicians and/or our occupational health vendor Routine blood pressure monitoring Provide education and counseling on healthcare issues and navigating managed care systems On occasion, perform paramedical examinations for employee life insurance applications, including venipuncture and EKGs Manage Medical Center programs, such as annual employee flu vaccine clinic, AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) and lactation room Participate in planning and implementation of Employee Wellness Programs Administrative functions (Medical Underwriting) Interpret EKGs on life insurance applicants Provide underwriters with appropriate MIB (Medical Information Bureau) codes for reporting purposes (will train) Correspond with life insurance applicants and/or their physicians regarding medical underwriting decisions and release of medical testing results As needed, coordinate workflow (paper and electronic referrals from Underwriting) for Medical Underwriting in the absence of the Operations Coordinator Participate in Medical Department projects as needed, such as the annual MIB Audit and audit of the Underwriter EKG Readers

RN with Massachusetts license in good standing 5 or more years clinical nursing experience in Emergency Room, ICU/CCU or as a Nurse Practitioner in an ambulatory clinic setting Must be proficient in EKG interpretation
