Signature Underwriter/Signature Underwriting Manager

Position Description:

This position supports the California Territory and may reside in California's Personal Lines Underwriting Center located in Pleasanton or in the Kansas City Personal Lines Underwriting Center.

The individual in this position assumes a leadership role in the achievement of Signature Solutions profit, growth, educational and service goals within assigned territory. Works closely with key Signature agents on new and renewal signature accounts. Is responsible for individual risk selection for Signature Solutions accounts. For a designated territory, handles all accounts with premiums in excess of $50,000. Assures that the quality of new Signature business is consistent with our Signature Solutions strategy and prescribed underwriting guidelines and catastrophe management objectives. Evaluates appropriateness of varying deductible options, contract modifications and writing companies. Develops technical expertise in the underwriting and pricing of all Signature Solutions products. Is responsible for achievement of insurance to value goals and compliance with appraisal recommendations for assigned accounts. Working with the agent and branch, coordinates an annual insurance review that identifies product and service needs of the customer. Analyzes customer information and makes recommendations for increased and additional coverage and service. Prepares renewal proposals that assist the agent in promoting account retention and growth. Communicates any potential account acquisition or growth issues to branch and Home Office, as appropriate. Coordinates the underwriting, pricing, proposal and placement process for Custom Solutions exposures. Obtains quotes and coverage comparisons for international exposures. Assists in the placement of international coverages when local policies are required. Conducts educational sessions within the Underwriting Center and Zone to educate staff on Signature capabilities, coverages, services and opportunities. Acts as the Zone expert on Custom Solutions, Family Office, Aviation, Flood, EPLI, Workers' Compensation, K & R and other products typically suited to meet the unique needs of Signature customers.

Dependent upon individual's experience, this may be a Signature Underwriter (PB 5) or Signature Underwriting Manager (PB 6).

Position Requirements:

Strong verbal and written communication skills; collaborative skills; negotiation skills; creative problem solving skills; strong technical underwriting skills. Qualified candidate will also be adept at relationship building and have a proven track record of successful Producer management. In depth knowledge of CPI's strategies, products and services results orientation required. Significant large account underwriting experience. Is qualified to achieve high levels of CPI Underwriting Authority. Ability to travel independently to meet with high level producers and clients on a regular basis.

Education:

Bachelors degree preferred or requisite experience.
