Sr Analyst, Market Research

Please apply online at Req# 10848.   JOB SUMMARY:  Responsible for working on wide variety of primary and / or secondary market research projects.  Meets with internal business partners to understand their information needs.  Identifies appropriate sources and methods of data collection of consumer, customer, producer and competitor information.  Implements research projects, manages research supplier relationships, analyzes and formally presents results to business partners.


RELATIONSHIP:  Reports to Manager/Director


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for working on wide variety of primary and / or secondary market research projects.  Acts individually or assists team members in collection, summarization and analyses of consumer, customer, producer and competitor information. 
2. Leads or assists in gathering, analyzing and disseminating of current information regarding the consumer, customer, competitor, access point, distribution channels, industry, regulatory, technological, demographic and economic environment with internal (including other offices in the enterprise) and external sources in order to be responsive to company, marketing and line management needs.
3. Initiates, evaluates and recommends contacts with newly developed sources of information.  Creates basic data collection instruments.
4. Works with business unit partners to understand and/or determine basic data information needs.  Determines best way to address business needs.  Effectively manages market research suppliers throughout project duration.
5. As a lead of established project, schedules, controls, coordinates and reports project activity.  This entails a determination of required resources, estimates of the time necessary to complete the project, and decisions regarding appropriate staff involvement.
6. Assists in completing complex projects and rush, critical requests made by senior management; coordinates activities (for assigned products/distribution systems) within or outside the office.  Operates effectively in an environment of deadlines and high workloads, adjusts schedules or work hours to meet changes in priorities.
7. Maintains basic knowledge and/or expertise in: marketing, insurance and investment business concepts, assigned line(s) of business, current trends in the insurance industry and our competitors, project management concepts and PC based software programs. 
8. Performs information collection, storage and circulation in compliance with current interpretation of anti-trust laws and with Nationwide Competitor Access Policy and Guidelines and Organization Participation Policy and Guidelines.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Undergraduate studies in marketing, communications, journalism, advertising or related field.

Licenses/Designations:  CPCU,  CLU, ChFC or FLMI designation and/or graduate studies desirable.

Experience:  Three years professional experience in the marketing, research and development of life/health/annuity, property/casualty insurance or financial services products.  Masters degree may be substituted for experience as appropriate.

Knowledge: Economic or marketing research, legal or financial analysis, and project management. Insurance company operations and products, marketing principles, company organizational structure and general administrative policies, practices and procedures.

Skills/Competencies: Command of all skills necessary for verbal and written communications to explain complicated analyses and quantified information to all levels of management, internal and external to the company. Proven ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative information and external factors that may influence or have an impact on the company, as well as the customers, distribution systems, operations, and the strategic planning process. Proven ability to set work priorities that conform with established objectives, timeframes and accomplish a task in the most effective manner.  Proven ability to manage projects and define administrative methods and procedures to attain office objectives.  Ability to maintain working knowledge and/or expertise in PC-based software programs, insurance/business concepts and assigned line of business as well as marketing and strategic planning concepts.

Staffing Exceptions to the above minimum job requirements must be approved by the:  Director/Officer, and HR Consultant.


JOB CONDITIONS:

Overtime Eligibility:  Not Eligible (Exempt).
Working Conditions: Normal office environment.  Extended work hours may be necessary during work periods of heavier volume of work.  Travel required as necessary.
