SENIOR PROGRAMMER/ANALYST

The Application Services section of the Information Systems department has an opening for a Senior Programmer/Analyst.? This position is responsible for the maintenance and development of batch and online applications software to support the operational and strategic requirements of the company.
?
Key job functions include:
?
????? Responsibility for large and small programming projects, both involving the following tasks:? analysis, design, programming, unit testing, system testing and documentation.
????? Conducting detailed analysis and study of all requirements with business analysts to develop methods for problem resolution.
????? Working directly with end-users or business analysts while resolving production problems and while developing new processes and procedures.
????? Using judgmental discretion, formulating recommendations on projects/problems with limited guidance, determining costs and choices available of various alternatives.
????? Performing special assignments as specified by management.
?
Qualifications include:
?
????? College degree or three years programming experience
????? Ability to code and maintain programs using rpg and cobol
????? Good knowledge of the main application systems and any subsystems
????? Knowledge of the dbu and dfu processes
????? Ability to resolve production problems quickly and meet or beat scheduled deadlines
????? Knowledge of insurance
????? Experience in data processing, data conversion, application development for newly defined processes, maintenance of existing applications supporting current processes
????? Is articulate and can communicate complex and abstract theories to non-technical staff.
