Sr WC Claims Technician-SDU

Description:
Under limited supervision in a dedicated claims unit, provides quality customer service in obtaining and maintaining essential information in order to process routine accident cases involving workers compensation (WC) claims with up to twelve weeks of disability. Provides guidance and assistance to others in the unit. Frequently exercises initiative and independent judgment and solves problems of various scope and complexity; assumes full responsibility for actions and decisions made. This is the second level in the Short Term Duration Unit (SDU) job family and is generally used for incumbents who are considered fully-competent in their position. Must demonstrate solid understanding and use of wc policy/contract coverage's and be able to recognize questionable coverage/contract situations which necessitate supervisory involvement as well as solve problems of various scope and complexity. Good oral, telephone and typing skills.

Qualifications:
High school diploma plus 3+ years of related customer service experience, applicable insurance, and/or college degree preferred. Licensing required in some states.
