Stat Data Quality Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: Analyzes and defines statistical data for internal and external reporting, and/or other business purposes. Reporting may include industry bureaus, and government agencies. Advises and provides coordination and assistance to the systems services offices in areas associated with the design and implementation of computer systems involving internal and external reporting, or other business needs. Manages the development and coordination of statistical and financial data quality reviews for all personal and commercial lines. Acts as project leader for a project or data quality team.

RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Manager/Director and can have up to three direct reports.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.
Reviews and analyzes all external statistical circulars, bulletins and memoranda and/or other business information. Determines reporting requirements. Determines and corrects errors for all reporting agencies as required.
2.
Coordinates changes in statistical plans and edits documentation for changes in validity and reporting codes and prepares required documents as needed for internal/external reporting systems. .
3.
Provides multi-level and multi-issue consulting and advisory services to a diverse mix of internal and external customers.
4.
Assumes project leader role and coordinates projects involving statistical data as assigned.
5.
Prepares and gives presentations to management and internal customers on statistical issues/status of internal and/or external reporting systems.
6.
Responds and oversees the response to state insurance departments, statistical bureaus or other regulatory agencies on compliance, data quality/integrity matters.
7.
Advises the Service Center processing areas or other assigned areas in making corrections to data. Identifies ways to provide instruction to prevent future errors.
8.
Identifies and provides appropriate solutions for problems which affect the quality of data. Trains staff on data integrity testing. Provides training to internal customers in maintaining all reporting with quality data in order to avoid fines from external agencies.
9.
Enhances technical skills and familiarity with company and external data, procedures, and processing and computer systems manuals.
10.
Identifies ways that input, processing and output controls for Service Center and home office processing of personal and commercial lines can be improved to ensure the integrity of the statistical data.
11.
Confers with other personnel concerning the testing results or recommendations, which will require subsequent review with operating areas.
12.
As assigned, participates on committees including those involving acquiring personal/commercial companies and de-affiliation activities with the coordination of the personal/commercial statistical reporting to our outside agencies.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
