Tax Manager (Investments)

This position contributes to all aspects of MetLife?s Tax Department. Responsibilities will include more complex and specialized disciplines of taxation such as life insurance taxation and international taxation (25-50%) with heavy concentration in investment taxation (50-75%). Maintains a current knowledge base of tax laws for Federal, State and Local jurisdictions as well as tax accounting rules under GAAP. Applies this knowledge to the preparation and supervision of tax return filings and tax provision accounting. Interacts with and makes recommendations to the line of business and subsidiary controllers on tax accounting and tax strategies. Assists tax accountants with respect to day to day compliance and accruals.




 

Major Duties and Functions Include:

? Analyzes complex tax returns and/or tax provisions

? Researches and documents tax issues for use in tax provisions and tax returns

? Creates and distributes various tax reports to management for use in the preparation of the global effective tax rate.



What You Need to Succeed:

? College degree with a major in accounting or taxation.

? Ability to speak a second language a plus.

? At least 5 to 7 years of business experience in a corporation or public accounting firm

? Strong personal computer skills

? The completion of a CPA designation is a strong plus.

? This person should also have strong interpersonal communication skills both oral and written, ability to work independently and as part of a team while demonstrating initiative and creativity, and flexibility to adjust to multiple work assignments.

? Must have up to date knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax laws.

? Must have knowledge of tax accounting rules for public company reporting.
