Technical Account Representative

BENFIELD has an excellent job opportunity in its Minneapolis office for a self starting individual who has recently completed or is currently pursuing a bachelor?s degree and who is looking to apply financial disciplines to a career in the insurance industry. BENFIELD offers the premier reinsurance training program in the industry, including the basics of reinsurance and primary insurance.



This position is responsible to manage and facilitate reinsurance accounting and claims activities and provide expertise to cedents, reinsurers, sales teams and other company operating units. The position serves as the accounting and/or claim liaison between insurers and their reinsurers. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



- Review and analyze premium and loss information received from insurers.

- Review contracts and verify that the premium and loss information submitted by insurers complies with contract terms.

- Use computer systems to input premium and loss information, prepare invoices and distribute to reinsurers.

- Pursue collection of amounts due.

- Produce and respond to written and verbal communication with insurers, reinsurers, sales teams and other operating units.

- Evaluate cedents? potential unauthorized reinsurance penalties and obtain funding from unauthorized reinsurers.


 

Successful candidates will have accounting, financial and/ or insurance knowledge/ experience, excellent self-management, strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated analytical skills, an understanding of basic mathematical concepts, and working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.



Preferred qualifications include:



- Bachelor?s degree (preferably an Accounting, Finance or business related degree) or equivalent experience.

- Reinsurance knowledge.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

- Strong sense of initiative and self-motivation.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Access.
