Technology Development Specialist

Job Description

This position is responsible for the design and development of training modules delivered in a variety of synchronous and asynchronous, primarily Web-supported, formats. The Specialist is familiar with standard instructional design methodology and can effectively employ Web-based technologies to quickly create engaging, media-rich courseware in support of our underwriting training programs. This individual understands and complies with SCORM principles; has demonstrated experience interacting effectively with a Learning Management System (LMS); and displays interest in keeping abreast of and implementing advances in technology to support learning initiatives. This is a creative individual with a strong technical background and experience in formal instructional design or adult learning theory.

Working closely with our subject matter experts, the individual in this position will assume ownership of assigned learning initiatives, participating in the design and development of each program from concept through completion. This individual is a demonstrated self-starter capable of working both independently and as part of a functional team. Job responsibilities include participation in the development of program and learning objectives; selection of appropriate delivery methodologies; development and maintenance of content; development and technical facilitation of synchronous Web-conferencing events as needed. Additional responsibilities include the creation of appropriate Level 2 and Level 3 evaluation instruments to assess the transfer of knowledge and implementation of new skills on the job. Key skills include the ability to work effectively on multiple projects, the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with team members and subject matter experts; comfort working in technical topic areas; ability to quickly learn and understand underwriting principles; and the ability to act as an internal consultant for new and existing learning initiatives.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate has a minimum of two years experience developing learning content in a corporate environment. A strong technical background is required, with expertise in one or more of the following applications: Lectora, Dreamweaver, HTML, ASP, and/or Javascript. Candidate should possess graphic design sense and an expertise in graphics development and optimization using Photoshop, Image Ready, and/or Illustrator. Experience in rapid development of interactive rich content and media using Captivate and/or Flash, as well as Webconferencing tools such as WebEx. Demonstrated understanding of Web standards compliance with regard to delivery of content over the Internet.

This position is based in Warren, NJ and requires some travel.

Educational Requirements

? BA degree or equivalent working experience
? Formal adult learning or instructional design classroom experience
? Insurance courses or designations preferred
