WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION?
The primary responsibilities for the position will include the following:
Risk Selection/Technical Underwriting: Takes lead role in risk selection, pricing, and Technology account management. Is creative in use of underwriting tools and techniques to write profitable business. Uses Technology ROE model for appropriate risk selection/pricing and is able to communicate rationale for underwriting decisions. Exhibits a commitment to finding ways to write business without sacrifice of quality, including appropriate leverage of all lines and account underwriting.
Sales and Agency Territory Management:Is effective at leveraging The Hartford?s agency compensation, incentive, and recognition programs as they relate to production and profit objectives of the Technology Practice. Is effective in developing, implementing, and monitoring sales plans with targeted agencies by matching up knowledge key agents, including specialist, opportunity and generalist agents as defined in the Technology Practice. Assist in development and implementation of effective Technology sales plans for those agents handled by the Team. Collaboration with Regional Offices in leveraging relationships with key agents to maximize growth and profit for technology, as well as on an Enterprise wide basis.
Relationship/Team Skills: Demonstrates excellent working relationships with all business associates leading to high level of customer satisfaction. This includes agents, internal/external customers, and sales and service center staff. Uses relationship abilities to uncover new business opportunities, retain renewal business and develop long term strategic business relationships.
Mentoring/Technical Resource: Is a resource throughout the region to develop and train new staff. Mentors new hires in sales and technical underwriting skills. Serves as Regional Technical resource in specialized areas such as International, E & O or Life Sciences.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree.
3+ years technology multi-line underwriting experience, with Technology E & O required.
Broad underwriting, agency/territorial management, financial/business acumen and strategic leadership skills.
Ability to travel within territory and meet with agents.
A consistent, proven, high level of performance and achievement.
Aptitude for numerical and/or financial evaluation of business performance.
Demonstrated creative problem solving and critical thinking/decision making skills.
Keen influencing and negotiation skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels in the organization.
Competencies:
