UDB DBA

Description: Responsibilities: Provide DBA support in a production environment. Uses extensive knowledge of the corporate computing and telecommunications products and services to support the IT infrastructure. Develops, implements and tests complex operating or network management systems. Acts as project architect. Coordinates rollouts, upgrades and office moves of large and complex scope. Defines and recommends solutions to capacity issues. Analyzes complex technical and/or Level 2 system problems. Leads projects or subprojects.

Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters Degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent experience. Generally a minimum of 5 years related experience. Extensive knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies.

DBMS technologies - UDB is strongly preferred, would consider Oracle. Knowledge of Informatica, datawarehousing, SQL Server, Unix shell scripting a plus.

Strong skills in midrange DBMS support including database design, operational support, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, performance monitoring and tuning, DBMS patching and upgrades.

Other important skills include working knowledge of HA, replication, TSM / NetBackup. Extensive knowledge of practices and procedures of operating systems and subsystems and/or telecommunication technologies. Expertise in one platform/protocol and knowledge of others. Highly proficient in operating system utilities and system or network management tools. General knowledge of a
business function(s) and business operations. Negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills. Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills.

*Position could also be based in Portsmouth, NH, Wausau, WI or Kansas City,MO.
