Underwriter/Senior Underwriter

The role of the Underwriter is underwrite and assist in the production of profitable Property and Inland Marine business and support the field underwriting offices in accordance with Company objectives and policies.

Selects, underwrites and prices risks within delegated underwriting authority. Develops and/or maintains an adequate flow of new and renewal business compatible with production goals. Exercises appropriate agency management techniques that will enhance the Company's position in the agency plant. Meets or exceeds service standards in the areas of new business, renewals and endorsements. Enhances technical expertise in the area of Property and Inland Marine underwriting. Exercises appropriate control over expenses such as commissions and travel. May assist in the training and development of less experienced staff members. Maintains close external contact with insureds, agents, and insurance industry support operations (ISO, CAB, independent adjusters, surveyors). Performs other duties as directed.

Required Skills:
Must have 1-5 years of Commercial and/or Inland Marine underwriting experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed in this position.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent business/work experience is required. AMIM and/or CPCU designations are given strong consideration.
