Underwriter - Team Lead

The P&C team leader will provide leadership for the day to day operations of Los Angeles' $16 million DFI P&C book of business. The responsibilities include: 1) Retention of the $16 million book with emphasis on the $9 million serviced in Los Angeles. Collaborating with the Western Underwriting Center (WUC) to ensure retention of the $2.1 million serviced there as well as collaborating with the NY based REIT team to ensure retention of the $4.7 million in REIT P&C business. 2) Identifying new business opportunities. The Los Angeles DFI P&C team is responsible for achieving $2.6 million in new in 2006. 3) Establishing and implementing business strategies. 4) Managing agency relationships. 5) Coaching and developing 1 DFI P&C underwriter and assisting with development of the CSI trainee and the DFI Underwriting Associate.

By 4Q06, this position will assume responsibility for the $8.5 million in DFI P&C renewals currently serviced by our San Diego and Orange County operations. The $4.5 million that is not serviced in the WUC will be cored in Los Angeles. While there are no new business responsibilities for those territories collaborating with the SDO/Costa Mesa CSI managers as well as branch manager to ensure budgeted retention is met will be required.

Candidates will be expected to introduce and roll out new products as well as promote Chubb as the insurance provider of choice. Lastly, candidate will be expected to establish themselves as leader representing Chubb Specialty Insurance not just DFI thus learning all CSI products will be expected.

Qualified candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of field underwriting experience, and have demonstrated leadership skills and experience in management as well as analytical and financial analysis. Candidates must possess a strong sales and customer service focus, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a proven track record of building strong relationships with agents/brokers and customers. Experience with P&C products is required and knowledge of REITS and workers compensation driven accounts is preferred. Knowledge of DFI financial products is also preferred.
