Underwriting Assistant Trainee

Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Ensures that policy transactions are issued and changes are recorded accurately and in a timely manner by rating and/or entering transactions for personal or commercial lines of business. Such transactions may be quotes, new business, endorsement, cancellations or renewals. 2. Communicates as needed with agents to obtain and/or clarify information for the rating and entry process. 3. Orders miscellaneous reports needed in the rating and underwriting processes, such as Motor Vehicle Reports, loss history reports, credit checks, outside inspections, loss control, etc. 4. Provides administrative and general clerical support as needed to assure efficient operation of the underwriting team.

NOTE: This position may provide advancement opportunities into the Underwriter level.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION: High School diploma, or equivalent; Bachelors or Associates degree a plus. Special Note: Selected candidate will be required to successfully complete an introductory course to the insurance industry.

EXPERIENCE: Previous general office experience. Working knowledge of personal computers and software applications, preferably Word and Excel. Ability to work in a fast-paced learning and production-oriented environment. Aptitude for working with figures. Personal or commercial lines experience helpful but not required.
