Underwriting Portfolio Manager

USAA is currently seeking a talented Underwriting Portfolio Manager for our San Antonio, TX location.

As an Underwriting Portfolio Manager for USAA, you will monitor underwriting programs for effectiveness and lead the development of recommendations to improve underwriting performance in ways that align with enterprise strategies and objectives. You will develop formal presentations and brief executive management on recommendations. You will serve as a primary underwriting contact for developing state-specific rates, plans and forecasts. You will develop and maintain an advanced level of understanding of economic conditions, regulatory issues, demographics and competitor practices within an assigned territory. You will coordinate, facilitate and direct regional underwriting and cross-functional involvement in complex portfolio underwriting issues. You will function as a mentor to other members of the team by facilitating the advancement for their business knowledge and skills.

Qualified candidates will possess:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

3+ years of prior industry experience to include advanced knowledge and understanding of property and casualty product lines, processes and fundamental underwriting principles.

Demonstrated ability to lead complex underwriting assignments.

Strong analytical skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Access, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred experience includes:
Experience and knowledge of risk segmentation, financial analysis, insurance pricing, internet business channels, business planning and strategy and business project/program management.
