Assistant Director of Information Systems

THE COMPANY:
A private, non-profit corporation, the MHSAA receives no tax dollars from the state of Michigan or the federal government. Its membership, made up of public, private and parochial schools, pay no membership dues or tournament entry fees ? only one of three such associations nationally to not accept membership dues or tournament entry fees from schools. The MHSAA offers championships in 28 different sports. The MHSAA provides superior health, leave and pension benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include the following (focus on programming):

* Design new computing services or systems by incorporating computing concepts, theories, new technologies and architectures, and by applying knowledge of computing trends, MHSAA objectives, and member requirements.

* Design the application, develop the framework and review the deliverables for consistency. Also, work in areas like application development, site enhancements/maintenance and support of existing applications, hosting, DBA support, server upgrades and server support.

* Assist in the development of strategies for maximum benefit and long-term enhancement and upgrade of existing MHSAA computer system and equipment.

* Assist in developing budget considerations for expected/required computer-related expenses.

* Assist with development/implementation of internally and externally written programs for MHSAA tournament series administration.

* Assist with administration of a Windows 2003 Network with at least 25 workstations, and several network printers, including two high-speed Canon copiers.

* Other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Systems.


IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:
* Proficient in ASP.NET, NET Web Services, Visual Studio.NET, Win Forms and SQL Server 2005/TSQL/Stored Procedures, JavaScript.

* Experience with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel.
* Experience in Web/Internet, Intranet and/or Extranet development skills.

* BS in Computer Science/Business/relevant field or equivalent experience.

* The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively as a team for design, yet work independently and proactively for development.
* Must have excellent communications skills, including the ability to perform end-user interaction in extracting requirements clarifications, and presenting problems and solutions.
* Experience with Windows 2003 Server, Exchange 2003 and WatchGuard Firewalls desired.

* Willingness to present information in a public forum.
