Associate Editor ? Health, Diet, and Fitness Web Sites
The Associate Editor will be responsible for supporting the launch team in creating new subscription-based health and fitness-related web sites. He or she will contribute to the launch of the site, from concept through completion, creating content, helping with production, and executing other site-related projects. The prospective candidate should be able to identify problems as well as offer potential solutions, and be comfortable working in a busy production environment. You must be organized and detailed-oriented, have strong writing and editorial skills, experience with online media, and an interest in the subjects of health, diet, fitness, and women's lifestyle content.
During the course of a site launch, duties include:
* Regularly embodying the voice and tone of our sites
* Creating and organizing new content
* Uploading content to the designated production folders and content management system (CMS), as necessary
* Assisting in management of freelance contributors, including assigning and editing content and overseeing production tasks
* Contributing to the writing and/or editing of the daily e-newsletters, Q&As, and success stories.
* Writing home page promos and navigation copy
* Working with nutritionists to monitor recipes and meal plans, making changes/revisions as necessary
* Helping the Community team to build and maintain a strong Community
* Interfacing with the Customer Service team to provide solutions and proper responses to subscribers who contact them with product questions or issues
* Supporting the Managing Editor, Senior Editor, and Executive Editor in cross-functional projects with Marketing, Ad Sales, and Tech teams, as well as company-wide initiatives
Qualifications:3+ years writing/editing experience, with at least some experience working on diet, nutrition, or health-related topics. Ideal candidate will also have some online experience.College degree, preferably with English or journalism concentration. Good understanding of HTML and online media. Strong research, organizational, writing, and communication skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines effectively and multitask. Interest in and/or experience with health, diet, or women's lifestyle content
