EarthLink, the nations third largest Internet Service Provider, seeks a Data Center Facilities Engineer. Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot Operations mission-critical facilities. Equipment includes standby diesel generators and related fuel systems, 3-phase electrical systems that include (but are not limited to) switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, STSs, wet cell batteries and associated systems, CRAC units, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical system, air handlers and associated systems, pumps and motors, life safety equipment, fire sensing and suppression equipment. Operate site in compliance with company, customer, state and federal policies and regulatory requirements; perform internal quality audits. Must be available to respond to site emergencies (on-call basis). Must be able to work variable shifts. Must be cognizant of and observe industry safety practices. Must be able to direct contractors and vendors. Must be a team player and operate as part of a crew. . Requires strong electrical/HVAC background including UPS and emergency power systems and ability to read and interpret facility blueprints and electrical schematics. . Knowledge of local, state and federal codes and regulations necessary. . Requires experience with contract management. . Strong organizational skills a necessity. . Must respond clearly, calmly and accurately under stressful emergency situations. . Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

JOB DUTIES . Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules (including OSHA rules) and any other related regulations. . Maintain accurate documentation. . Must be able to lift 60lbs. . On call 24/7/365. . Monitor and report on facilities system utilization and capacities. . Manage Facilities improvement projects . Define and implement preventative maintenance standards and schedules. . Review existing procedures and implement needed additional maintenance processes. . Manage projects within budget guidelines. . Attend customer and vendor meetings (depending on employee's role and responsibility). . Record facility problems, analyze data, work orders, tickets, and prepare proposals and reports. . Provide facility training to internal and external employees. . Work with management to implement clear facility policies which include but are not limited to internal and external escalation policies. . Communicate all potential facility outages/issues by sharing incident reports with appropriate internal customers and upper management. . Review and approve customer and vendor policies related to data center facilities. . Ensure that accurate facility reports are provided to upper management. . Participate in disaster planning, recovery. . Act as a Project Manager to oversee upgrades and Preventative Maintenance work. . Work other projects/assignments as operational demands change.

Education & Experience: Prefer degree or formal experience/training in electrical or mechanical engineering or technical field. BOMA FMA/SMA a plus. Prefer 5+ years hands-on experience in data center or similar critical facilities environment. Must have in-depth working technical knowledge to perform Data Center facilities operations and maintenance. (Standby power generation, uninterrupted power generation, fire protection, and 3 phase electrical systems). Ability to operate, troubleshoot and maintain complex mechanical systems. Working knowledge of building management systems and/or building automation systems. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills. Detail oriented and strong organizational skills a must. Project Coordination/Management experience. Vendor/Customer Management experience.

Computer/Software Skills: Windows XP Word Excel AutoCad / Visio a plus
