Director, Engineering

As our Director, Engineering, you will:

? Lead and build a world-class engineering team to revolutionize current software products and lead the charge to innovate new technology solutions to support our growing business
? Partner effectively with your executive counterparts in the various businesses you serve to deliver accurate, timely and relevant solutions to business objectives
? Maximize the performance and contribution of each direct and extended team member through mentoring, professional development and leading by example.
? Attract and recruit excellent engineers, architects, product managers and other team members with the support of our recruiting team
? Define metrics for productivity, quality and other relevant measures that impact the success of your team
? Devise and implement standards of excellence within your engineering team including architecture and design principles, coding standards, tools, etc.
? Ensure that your engineering team is following a defined engineering process throughout the product lifecycle to repeatedly achieve delivery objectives
? Respond appropriately to unsatisfactory performance of direct and indirect reports and initiate appropriate performance improvement steps
? Work closely with your product management team to develop requirements and influence the functional design of technology solutions
? Monitor team and deliverable performance in relation to agreed upon (with your business) objectives
? Collaborate with your business counterparts to define an inclusive (biz & engineering) and truly world-class Product Development methodology
? Identify and drive innovative solutions to present and future business needs

Your qualifications include:

? 10+ years of demonstrated success leading high-performance engineering teams of 20+
? 7-10+ years experience in systems design, software engineering and systems integration
? 5-7 years directing the architecture and design of large-scale software systems
? Proven experience leading Agile teams
? Proven track record of success in senior engineering management roles with portfolios valued at $10MM+
? Recent experience in large-scale, Internet e-commerce environments
? Passionate about leadership, quality and exceeding expectations
? Process oriented and innovative while effectively balancing short term and long term business needs
? Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, large audience, small-team, one-to-one)
? Must be able to effectively manage expectations
? Strong and recent experience designing, engineering and deploying high performance / high availability systems
? Experience with enterprise application development
? Expert using UML for systems and process modeling
? Perl / J2EE / mod-Perl / Sybase / Oracle
? Agile experience required, CSM a plus
? BS in Computer Science, mathematics, engineering or other relevant technical field required. MS/MBA a plus
