Director Quantitative Analysis and Strategy

Netflix conducts numerous tests of different website experiences in order to learn how to maximize the customer experience. Effective quantitative understanding of our customers and their behavior on the site is critical to running and optimizing our business.

Reporting to the VP of Product Management, the Director, Quantitative Analysis and Strategy will inform product management?s business decisions based on independent evaluation of website?s performance and establishment of key business metrics. Additionally, he/she will be charged with designing and analyzing quantitative A-B tests to evaluate potential new site features.

This person will combine good overall business knowledge with keen analytical skills and deep knowledge of quantitative testing to provide meaningful consumer insight to inform Netflix site development.

THE ROLE

? Be a quantitative leader in the organization, helping to inform new metrics which drive the business forward in ways that are consistent with the company?s key strategies.
? Work with Product Managers to analyze data with the goal of discovering patterns and insights to inform site features and development.
? Interface with the company?s data warehouse for ad hoc data requests and, over time, help create automated dashboards and monitors to measure each business area?s progress.
? Work with research and product management partners to design and implement quantitative A-B tests for new features, analyze the results, and then communicate these results in ways that provide meaningful consumer insight. Test experiences span customer acquisition, customer retention, effective merchandising, the ratings and recommendations system, the Friends network, and the effectiveness of each of these tools at connecting users with movies they?ll love, thereby enhancing retention.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8 years experience working as an analyst in a data-driven environment and will also have a strong background designing and executing quantitative research, ideally in a consumer-facing business. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess the following:

? Outstanding analytical and quantitative research skills (test design, cross tabs, significance testing, etc.);
? Ability to utilize empirical information for product design;
? Track record of uncovering consumer behaviors and motivations that result in breakthrough business insights;
? Proactive, results-oriented;
? Solid communication skills at all levels within an organization;
? Excellent project management skills; ability to multi-task;
? Ability to focus on both the details and ?big picture? at the same time;
? Solid track record of designing, executing, interpreting and delivering insightful and actionable quantitative research;
? Excellent SQL skills required;
? VP or Director level experience preferred;
? BA required; degree in mathematics preferred;
? MBA or Masters in Statistics or Analytic discipline preferred.
