COMMUNITY EDITOR

 

Do you know the ins and outs of fostering a true sense of community on the web? Are you familiar with those tools and techniques that not only enable, but ENCOURAGE site visitors to take an active part in the conversations going on around them? Have you worked with message boards, blogs and viral marketing campaigns that produce REAL results and transform web sites from mere electronic versions of a print publication into a vibrant, dynamic community where the driving force of the conversation is as compelling as the original content offered by the site itself?

 

If so, Eons is looking to harness your skills as we build a truly unique experience for the 50-plus audience.

 

List of Responsibilities:

 

 The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as insight and understanding in the strategic value of user-generated content.

 

Excellent time management skills, extremely detail oriented, the ability to multitask, and the ability to work independently and within a team environment are required. 

 

A thorough understanding of writing for the web is essential to this position as well as the ability to modify ones writing style to fit the intended audience. An understanding of the AP style guide is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are also required as this position will interact with staff at all levels throughout the organization.

 

?  Seed Community areas and uncover the sites true stars

?  Evaluate, update, and add key content to the Eons website

?  Coordinate with the content management system

?  Ensure message consistency and proofread content for proper grammar usage, typographical errors, and content accuracy

?  Serve as a member of cross-organizational editorial team

?  Analyze referral traffic and usage of key content and communities, and recommend necessary changes / additions

 

 Qualifications for Position:



?  Experience managing large online communities

?  Understanding of difference between blogs, message boards and messaging tools and how users react to each

?   Proven ability to identify and develop compelling community environments, both by coordination with editors and through effective manipulation of community discussion tools.

?  Ability to identify and utilize community members who can help foster the conversation

?  Demonstrated skill in web, journalistic, and business communication writing styles

?  5+ years experience in an online/Web-based communications environment

?  Understanding of content management systems

?  Experience working with on-line communities, blogs, and message boards

?  Basic comprehension of Web / HTML authoring tools

?  Proficiency with MS Office applications

?  Comprehension of online information consumption and usability concepts

?  Bachelor's Degree
