Firewall Expert

Position:      Proxy / Firewall Expert

Length of Assignment : 3-6 Months, possibly longer

Start Date: May 1, 2006 (or earlier if possible)

 

Brief Description of the Position:

 

The individual will be a member of the North America Information Technology, Communications Technology team located in Pittsburgh, PA which is responsible for firewall and related technologies in Pittsburgh (and West Haven) supporting:

 

? Internet browsing

? Bayer extranet (FxGate)

? eCommerce networks

? Business partner network connections. 

? Remote access

 

The incumbent is expected to be firewall professional and will aid the group on several projects throughout the year; including: Operational/Design support of the Bluecoat Browsing environment, support for the Secondary Data Center project and serve as a liaison to the Network Support Center.

 

The area of secure remote access, including architectural design and the Level III support as well as meeting SLA commitments also falls within the responsibilities of this position.

 

Position Requirements:

 

? Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field and minimum of 5 years of Information technology, firewalling, security and networking technology expertise.

? A comprehensive understanding and hands on experience with Checkpoint NG/Provider-1 on the Nokia hardware platform.

? A comprehensive understanding and hands on experience with the Cisco 3000 series remote access concentrators.

? Well-rounded knowledge of current remote access technologies.

? Experience configuring and deploying in an RSA Secure ID environment.

? A comprehensive understanding and hands on experience with BlueCoat Proxy appliances

? A comprehensive understanding of the UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems.

? A comprehensive understanding of network, routing technologies (OSPF and BGP) and the TCP/IP protocol.

? Hands-on experience with networking and security issues as they relate to perimeter protection, virtual private networks (VPN).

? A comprehensive understanding and hands on experience with Cisco Routing and switching technologies and Cisco IOS.

? Ability to travel when needed (less than 10%).

 

Abilities and Experiences which are a plus:

? Certification in any of the various information security areas (CISSP, SANS - GIAC, and/or Checkpoint CCSA/CCSE).

? Perl Scripting.

? Checkpoint VPN design and configuration experience.

? Protocol analysis and trouble shooting skills.

? Understanding of Windows 2000 Server, Active Directory, complex NT Domain trust models

? Aventail Extraweb.

? Experience writing scripts in the UNIX environment.
