Hardware Design Engineer

As a key contributor in a team creating high-complexity networking platforms, you will be responsible for building comlex systems. Must be able to jump-start projects through hands-on design. Required to have hands-on experience in design, validation, and production release of high-speed and high-complexity networking boards. Experience/knowledge with high-speed serial links, serdes design and testing required. Working knowledge of Multi-Gigabit Switching Fabrics, Gigabit and 10-Gigabit Ethernet Standards, and experience in Analog design is expected.


Hands-on Responsibilities:

0. Design high-speed backplane and other multi-layer boards

1. Develop functional/design specification

2a. Work with NPI/mfg on part selection and sourcing

2b. Work with Mechanical, power and signal integrity during design and testing

3. Schematic Capture

4. Manage PCB layout

5. Board bring up and test

6. Trouble-shooting using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers and other proper tools

7. Characterization

8. Write detailed test plan/procedure document

9. Transition to manufacturing

10. Support the product after shipment
 

Experience:

6-8 yrs experience in high-speed serdes, serial links design (experience with high-speed backplane design and testing preferred)

Solid understanding of digital logic, signal integrity, power circuitry, and high-speed PCB design techniques

Experience with FPGAs, Ethernet PHYs, High-speed Memories, PLLs, voltage regulators, etc.

Working knowledge in DFM, DFT, DVT, and Manufacturing Issues

Ability to contribute with minimal supervision in a start-up-like environment
