WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

 

Reporting to the Creative Director, the Internet Art Director is:

A creative ?out-of-the-box? thinker who provides graphic design, conceptual and stylistic leadership, visual execution and coding to develop static and dynamic web pages for the Benchmark Brands retail websites, footsmart.com and walksmart.com.  This individual will provide direction to two additional interactive, creative staff, and will interface with our web developers/programmers, merchandisers and marketing team to provide optimum usability and functionality, and to ensure the preservation and cohesiveness of our brand image.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

 

? Provide ongoing evaluation of current e-retail graphical and interactive design, identifying opportunity areas and implementing design improvements to optimize the user?s shopping experience.
? Direct interactive creative staff and provide hands-on input in conceptualizing and designing quality user interfaces, including storefronts, landing pages, product detail pages, rich media and promotional units.
? Assure consistency and standardization by staff among project interfaces, as needed.
? Take a leading role in developing online graphic standards documentation.
? Partner effectively with Online Merchants, Online Marketing, User Experience Manager and Web Developers to produce on-target, on-schedule creative executions.
? Contribute to Creative Department team communication and processes by participating in weekly staff meetings, adhering to creative workflow practices and communicating effective work practices within the interactive area.
? Keep abreast of trends in interactive design, production tools and processes for software products and websites. 
? Investigate and recommend methods, systems, processes and standards.
? As necessary, perform coding using HTML and JavaScript

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

? BS/BA Degree in Art or Graphic Design
? 5+ years in art direction at an advertising agency, internet retailer/service provider or internet design firm, with a minimum of 3+ years in interactive design; experience in Direct Response Internet design a plus 
? Experience should demonstrate an inclination to undertake progressively more challenging projects and more responsibility
? Proven ability to conceptualize and implement graphical user interfaces and interactive designs for different market segments
? Proven ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines
? Proven ability to work on web development projects in a team environment
? Proficient in Adobe PhotoShop, Flash or Shockwave, and at least one HTML tool set
? Understanding of at least two of the following:  Illustrator, QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign or FreeHand software
? Thorough knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, Cascading Style Sheets and server side, including functionality
? Thorough knowledge of graphical user interface design standards, including accessibility considerations
? Must be flexible and work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
