Network Administrator / Network Consultant

American Technology Services, Inc. (NetworkATS), an IT consulting firm based in Fairfax, Virginia is looking for an experienced network administrator to join our systems support staff. Our clients are primarily private sector firms (we are not a government contractor).  This position is a full time, salaried position.

 

You will work directly with clients on site at their locations in the North Carolina Triad area (Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem).  Some travel in the region is required, and therefore you must be able to drive and provide your own transportation.

 

Your responsibilities will include these tasks:

 

-  Provide end user customer support on site, and in effect be the ?IT Manager? for a group of clients.

-  Manage and operate LAN/WAN systems and servers at client locations both on site and remotely.

-  Develop network and systems documentation as needed.

-  Establish and meet service level expectations for uptime, responsiveness to issues and maintenance.

-  Plan and manage upgrades to operating systems, applications software, and various hardware.

-  Make planning decisions and advise clients on budgeting as well as designing the network infrastructure.

 

Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential. Hands-on work with high security financial IT environments is a plus.  Prior experience in a consulting environment is also a plus.

Technical requirements include knowledge and direct hands on experience in these areas:

 

-  Microsoft 2000 and 2003 Server with Active Directory

-  Microsoft Exchange

-  TCP/IP networks, routing, and DNS

-  Routers and routing protocols, including OSPF, RIP, and others

-  Working knowledge of firewalls, proxy servers, and security through Group Policy

-  Basic knowledge of database applications, such as SQL Server, Sybase, or Oracle

-  Working knowledge of backups and backup technologies, such as Backup Exec or NetBackup

 

Experience in programming ASP.NET or other programming languages is a plus.  Knowledge of Fiserv/ITI, Bisys/OSI, Metavante or other major banking software and systems is also a plus.

 

Education requirements:

 

-  Bachelor?s degree in a related field

-  Technical certifications including MCSE or progess toward MCSE

 

Other requirements:

 

-  The position requires that you be able to lift 50 pounds in order to move equipment from time to time.

-  In addition, you should be eager to work in a consulting environment where you will work with multiple clients and be responsible for efficient operations of their systems and networks.

-  We do not pay relocation expenses for this position.
